Upon the invitation of the Russian Constitutional Court with the aim of improving cooperation between the respective institutions, a meeting was held with the President and Justices of the Russian Constitutional Court in city of St. Petersburg on 30 March 2018.
President of the Constitutional Court of Turkey Mr. Zühtü Arslan, Justices Mr. Hasan Tahsin Gökcan and Mr. Yusuf Şevki Hakyemez and Deputy Secretary General Mr. Abdullah Çelik attended the meeting on behalf of the Turkish Constitutional Court.
At the end of this fruitful gathering aiming at enhancing the relations of the Turkish and Russian Constitutional Courts, both of which are members of the Association of Asian Constitutional Courts and Equivalent Institutions (“the AACC”), within the scope of activities of the AACC and improving the cooperation between two States in the legal sphere, “Bilateral Memorandum of Cooperation” was signed between two parties.
With this memorandum, a framework has been introduced in order to enable the both countries to interact, make cooperation and share experience in the area of constitutional jurisdiction. With this memorandum, the Constitutional Courts of both countries aim at improving and strengthening the cooperation by way of joint conferences and seminars, besides exchanging and sharing the legal instruments in the area of constitutional jurisdiction, in accordance with this memorandum and their national legislations.
