President of the Turkish Constitutional Court, Mr. Kadir Özkaya, received Mr. Waleed Mohammed Al Smani, Minister of Justice of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the accompanying delegation, who paid a visit to Türkiye at the invitation of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Türkiye.

During the meeting, held in President Özkaya’s office, satisfaction with the visit was expressed, and emphasis was placed on the long-standing relations of friendship and fraternity between Türkiye and Saudi Arabia. It was noted that the strong relations between the two countries, founded on mutual respect and trust, had also had a positive bearing on cooperation in the fields of law and the judiciary.

It was stated that the historical and cultural affinity between Türkiye and Saudi Arabia provided an important foundation for further developing inter-institutional relations. In this regard, it was considered that more frequent reciprocal visits would contribute to strengthening the friendly relations, enhancing communication between the judicial institutions, and promoting the exchange of knowledge and experience.

The parties also exchanged views on potential areas of cooperation in the fields of law and the judiciary, the importance of sharing institutional experience, and opportunities for joint endeavours. It was noted that such contacts would not only foster judicial relations but also contribute to further consolidating the bonds of fraternity and friendship between Türkiye and Saudi Arabia, as well as to generating significant benefits for the region.

President of the Constitutional Court Mr. Kadir Özkaya provided information on the structure, duties and powers of the Constitutional Court, the functioning of the individual application system, the international organisations of which the Court is a member, and its activities in the field of constitutional justice worldwide.

The meeting was also attended by Vice-Presidents of the Constitutional Court Mr. Basri Bağcı and Mr. İrfan Fidan, Justice Mr. Muhterem İnce, Deputy Minister of Justice of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Mr. Mohammad Sulaiman Almutlaq, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Ankara Mr. Fahad Bin Assaad Abualnasr, Secretary General of the Constitutional Court Mr. Murat Azaklı, and other officials.
